Mit wachsender Begeisterung, wie er sagt. „Denn in diesem Teil der Welt laufen Käsekrainer und Apfelrotkohl unter der Rubrik Ethno-Food – und sie laufen sehr erfolgreich“.
Immerhin ist der Besuch in einem deutschen Restaurant für viele Asiaten der erste und mitunter prägende Kontakt zu Deutschland und man sollte die Rolle der deutschen Wirte als Kulturbotschafter nicht unterschätzen. Denn nicht Goethe, nicht Polka und nicht schnelle Autos, sondern die unverwüstliche Schweinshaxe ist jenseits von Ural und Bosporus der Imageträger Deutschlands. Stay away from the tourism kiosk recommendations and head inland to Mor Mudong. This restaurant sits deep in the mangroves and has several open-sided huts for dining al fresco. There are over 100 items on the menu at Mor Mudong, but don’t miss the chili crab, the local greens such as Lin Han which grow along the beach and are cooked in coconut milk, the stingray, the stuffed fish and the grilled prawns are second to none.
